T.K. Keith Company (TKKC), now doing business as Primax, was formed in 1981. Its founder, Theodore K. Keith, Sr., was originally retained as consultant by New England Bankcard Association (NEBA). NEBA was one of the original MasterCharge regional processing cooperatives formed in 1969. Mr. Keith, Sr.'s mission with Primax was to revitalize and refocus the organization. As a result of his assessment, the Board of Primax made the decision to sell its processing business but maintain the Association as an ongoing entity. Primax was formed to manage Primax concurrent to this sale.
A History of Growth and Innovation
In 1990, Primax added to its portfolio additional consultative-based services; First Data system support, MasterCom imaging services, and data-mining and reporting. Concurrently, Mr. Keith, Sr. launched Harbor Card Services (HCS), an outsourcing company which provided operational and management services to credit card issuers. In 1995 HCS was merged into TKKC and moved its operations to Primax's Wakefield headquarters. An expansion of the services offered to credit card issuers was initiated that included application processing, call center risk management and collections.
In 1997, Theodore Keith, Jr. became President & CEO of the company. Also in 1997 a new division called Primax Payments Systems was launched to provide operations and management services to merchant acquirers - a division that began with one merchant and grew to more than 5,000 business clients. In 2007 the company re-branded itself as Primax. TKKC remains the legal corporate name. In 2011 Primax sold the Merchant Services portion of the company in order to fully focus its resources on its payment card program clients. Then, in 2013 Primax acquired NEBA's processing business.
Growing into the 21st Century
Today Primax designs and provides support services for payment card programs to businesses and financial institutions throughout the United States.
